Updates on happenings around the League. Proposition 1, the Water Bond, was one of the big issues on the November ballot. The LWVC Water Committee is following the interpretation and implementation. Their latest update is available here on the LWVC website. We will be talking about water issues more locally in April. The League of Women Voters of California will continue to work on issues of money in politics, although the focus may be a bit different this year. For more on this read the Update here. At the national level much effort is still needed on right-to-vote issues. This was in Thursday's newsletter: " League Submits Nearly 30,000 Comments to the FEC Thanks to your support LWVUS was able to submit nearly 30,000 comments to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) in support of stricter disclosure regulations as well as tightening the definition of coordination between candidates and outside groups. Your comments to the FEC underscore that you believe that Americans have a right to know who is funding our nation's political campaigns in the wake of the 5 year anniversary of the Citizens United decision this week." At the local level we have just finished Program Planning in preparation for the LWVC Convention May 15-17 in San Diego (see picture above) and are actively planning for Lunch with the Mayor, Women's History Month, and other upcoming events.
