The Holiday Season is in full swing, but between the cooking and wrapping and decorating, we have been busy planning for the next few month of League activities.

Two events still to come this month:

December 11, 7:00p.m.  Gun Safety Vigil, Wilshire at Ocean.  Come join us, bring a candle if you wish.

December 14, 5-7:00p.m. Holiday Open House at the home of Ann Williams.  See and share the flyer.  this is a wonderful opportunity to introduce a friend to the League in an informal, no business, setting.

Other upcoming events:

January 25, 11:00a.m. Program Planning Brunch, more details after the first of the year
January 26, 6:30p.m. Board meeting.  We have changed the date to the fourth Monday
January or February, to be scheduled, annual interviews with our state legislators
February 19, 10:30a.m. We will have a table at the MLK Day Involvement Fair, as we have for many years.  The full weekend program is available here.
Some Saturday in February, Lunch with the new mayor
February 23, 6:30p.m. board meeting
March 23, 6:30p.m. board meeting
March 26. 7:00p.m. Women Who Shape Santa Monica, again in the beautiful penthouse at Ocean House

Mark your calendars and save a few dates.
PRESIDENT'S CORNER

One of the most enjoyable parts of the holiday season is the satisfaction we get when we give to those we love.

The League of Women Voters of Santa Monica has asked recently you for donations, and of course, these are always deeply appreciated. Another good way you can support the League is by giving a membership to someone you love and respect.

A membership in the League supports the national League as it fights for the rights of voters throughout the country.

It supports the League of Women Voters of California as it tirelessly advocates for League positions in the state legislature.

And of course, it supports our League as we educate and advocate on a local, grass-roots level.

So please consider giving a membership in the League of Women Voters of Santa Monica this holiday season. It's easy - just go to  http://www.lwvsantamonica.org/join.html

And do drop by our holiday open-house to enjoy a little bubbly and good company - we'd love to see you and your friends there.

We wish you all a joyous and peaceful holiday season,

Ann K. Williams

President

MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS
All memberships in the League of Women Voters of Santa Monica come due on September 30th and are past due December 31.  Even though everyone received a written notice in September and we have reminded you several times, some have still not renewed.  It's easy, just click on the "join" button to the left and use your credit card to renew via Paypal.  Do it now, while you are thinking about it.  Or bring a check to our Holiday Open House on Sunday.  We would love to see you there.

This is not true for new members that have joined since June of this year--you get an extra half year for free!
BE A LEAGUE HELPER

There are many ways you can help the League throughout the year, but few are as easy and fun as the one I'm suggesting this month. Drink champagne! Enjoy sparkling conversation! Meet your neighbors! - Of course, I'm talking about our holiday party.

I can't in good conscience ask you to do another task during such a busy season, but we would love to see you and a friend - no, make that friends - at our open house. And you will be supporting the League by exposing new people to our great organization, so, you see, you will be a helper, all while having fun.

Hope to see you there!

Ann K. Williams

President
