This week's update is from our Education Fund with a focus on background information to help you make a more informed decision at the polls.
Last Wednesday evening LWVC was a co-host of a candidate forum for the office of California Superintendent of Public Instruction at the Los Angeles County Office of Education. The event was broadcast live by the California Channel and streamed on their website. It is currently available for replay thru Nov. 4 at both http://calchannel.com/recent-archive/ and http://lacoe.edu (the link is on the homepage). This is a close race between two very different candidates and this is your opportunity to see them answer a wide range of questions.

PROS AND CONS
| |
One of the missions of our Education Fund is to prepare a balanced analysis of each ballot measure. The traditional Pros and Cons publication covering the six state measures are now available on line. We will have hard copies next week, so please contact us at league@lwvsantamonica.org if you would like copies. The Easy Voter Guide for new and busy voters also covers the six measures and is available in several languages. We will have copies available in both Spanish and English. Again, contact us if you can use these. LWVSM has prepared a Pros and Cons publication of the five local measures on your ballot. This is available at our events and on our website.
A public presentation of all the ballot measures including county measure P will be Sunday afternoon, October 12. Check the flyer for more information.
