Three of us have just returned from our state convention, full of enthusiasm for a new League year. But first we want to remind you--Our LWVSM annual meeting is June 1, 11:00A.M. in the Main Library Multi-purpose room, second floor. This should be a League like day: informative, convivial, and participatory. Voting members have the convention kit and we ask you to bring it with you. We will be electing new officers, adopting a budget, and conducting the official business of the League.
Those of you who are not members are welcome to join us then or for lunch and the program. We are excitied to be able to share the new, city wide Cradle to Career initiative with you. We have three outstanding speakers, all associated with the project. Julie Rusk, Assistant Director, Community and Cultural Affairs will be representing the city, Sandra Lyon, Superintendent of Education will be talking about SMMUSD's role, and Jonathan Mooney is the special consultant for the project.
Feel free to invite friends and associates for the lunchtime program. Flyers and RSVP forms are on line @ http://www.lwvsantamonica.org/calendar or you can call 310-692-1494 or email league@lwvsantamonica.org. You may pay by Paypal on line, cash or checks at the door.
