PTA LEADER UPDATE
A weekly bulletin from your Council PTA to keep you informed.

Greetings

I would just like to take some time to congratulate some individuals and also units today on behalf of the council.  Even though the groundhog says six more weeks of winter, we are getting closer to spring, a time for celebration.  It's important to honor successes and feel good about the work you are doing.

First, congratulations to students Makayla Key of Aycock Middle, whose theme, "Family Is..." and Kema Leonard of Kernodle Middle, whose theme, " Because We Care..." were chosen as one of the top 5 finalists in the State Level Reflections 2015-2016 Theme Search. The five state finalists now move to the national level!

Next, congratulations to Cone Elementary PTA. They are one of nine PTAs from North Carolina to be selected by National PTA to receive a Take Your Family to School Week Grant for $1000.  Join National PTA and families across the nation Feb. 17-21, 2014, for this important week that focuses on strong family engagement and the importance of partnerships among parents, teachers, and school administrators.

Finally, congratulations to the twenty-five local units in Guilford County that received the Gold Key Award for membership.  These units received a Blue Key back in October and have added at least 25 new members by January 15th.  I have to add that we were second in amount only to Wake County...way to go Guilford County PTAs!! Remember, membership doesn't end.  Reach out to new families and show them all your PTA does for your school and students.

Take care,
Katie Sayani
