BackPack Beginnings (BPB) is a 100% volunteer nonprofit that seeks to provide nutritious food, comfort items and other basic necessities to children in need through the use of backpacks.  Our Food BackPack Program provides food to hungry children over the weekends during the school year and is currently serving 21 schools and approximately 1,050 children.  Our Comfort BackPack Program provides backpacks full of comfort items to abused/neglected, foster, homeless and refugee children and serves 12 partner agencies and 1,200 children annually.  We also run a free clothing pantry and 3 school food pantries.

As for ways for schools/volunteers to get involved:

1.  Volunteer in our office (children are welcome). Click here for opportunities.  It is something we continuously add opportunities to, so you should bookmark it or be reminded of it occasionally.

2.  Hold a food or supply drive.  Some of the items can be gently used, and we can provide a list of our largest needs.

3.  Assemble your own food or comfort backpack.  Instructions can be provided.

4.  Hold a fundraiser.

5.  Take on larger, more permanent volunteer roles within our organization.  We are looking for highly dependable and organized volunteers like an Event Planner, Marketing Volunteer, Program Subchair or Clothing Pantry Chair.  If you are interested in these positions click here.
