PTA LEADER UPDATE
A weekly bulletin from your Council PTA to keep you informed.

Greetings
Anybody ready for some warm weather!  It was so nice to see many of you at the State of our Schools.  I hope you are also able to join us at the upcoming Emerging Leaders Conference in Charlotte on the 8th.  All of these experiences enable you to share valuable  information with your school communities.

Just as your Nominating Committees are working hard to find upcoming leaders for next school year, GCC of PTAs' committee is doing the same.   I would like to encourage many of you to fill out our interest form.  There are many talented leaders in Guilford County and moving up to the next level will benefit your own child's school, as well as all the schools in our county.  Transitioning off a board as an officer is not easy; sometimes it's hard to cut the cord.  As you make room for new leaders, joining the council will give you a better insight to the big picture, while still allowing you to keep your local unit truly informed.

We are so lucky to have over 100 PTAs and PTSAs strengthening our schools every day. It's important to take time to celebrate your accomplishments.  Yes, it's that time of year again...awards time.  Please see the section below with all the information your unit needs to apply for at least one award.

Take care,
Katie Sayani
GCC of PTAs
President
Reminders
  • Register for the Emerging Leaders Conference.  You don't want to miss this energizing training!
  • Promote the PTA Family Night at the ACC Women's Basketball Tournament at your school.  Elementary and middle schools are eligible to win prizes including $1000 Food Lion gift card and a visit from all the ACC mascots to your school. CLICK HERE for all the information and forms you need. The deadline for ordering tickets and entering in the contests is February 21st.
  • Fill out an interest form for GCC of PTAs board positions. We need good leaders!
Celebration is a MUST!!
Saying thank you is so important when it comes to volunteering.  PTA Awards allows our units to appreciate the people who help in our schools every day and the efforts put forth to benefit your students.

Awards information is now available on our website.  The turn in date for submissions is March 13th in the PTA Room at Eugene Street.

Our goal is to have every PTA and PTSA (over 100 in GCS) to submit at least ONE award this year.  So check out all the awards that are available from GCC of PTAs this year and select the ones that best work for your unit.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email us.

We look forward to celebrating with you on Thursday, May 8th at 5:30pm at Northern Guilford High School!  See you at the show!!
