At the events, school representatives will be able to answer questions about what the programs have to offer, how to apply and which ones may be the best fit.

Additional events will be held at the same times on the following dates:

Students enrolled in the AP Academy will take six or more Advanced Placement courses, including two Capstone courses, and earn a Level 3 or better on the AP exams. Students will also complete the requirements for the district's service-learning diploma.

Families can learn more about all 54 magnet programs at the GCS Magnet Fair on Saturday, Jan. 25, from9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Greensboro Coliseum Pavilion. For more information, visit www.gcsnc.com/magnet.

Help a GCS School!
Help a GCS School Win $10,000

The Energy WISE team of fourth graders at Lindley Elementary School wrote, created and submitted a video for the national "Scotties Trees Rock" contest.  Their video is one of 12 finalists and the only school from North Carolina represented in the contest!

The video with the most online votes will win $10,000 for the school. Starting today (and every day for the next four weeks if you can), please go to www.scottiestreesrock.com.  There is a quick registration the first time you vote, but you can vote immediately the next time you return to the website and enter your email address. (You will not receive emails from Scotties unless you opt in when you register.)

As our students say in the video, money they win will be used to buy more books, plant more in the school garden (produce goes to Second Harvest Food Bank here in Greensboro), fix chairs in the auditorium, and more. Please vote and pass the link on to as many people as possible.  Thanks!
