PTA LEADER UPDATE
A weekly bulletin from your Council PTA to keep you informed.

Just two weeks left of school until the holiday break.  As we get closer to the end of 2013, begin to mark your calendar for all the important events starting in January. Aside from your own PTA's programs, there are lots of opportunities to take advantage of coming up.

Please read carefully through the reminders and dates below to be ready for the new year!

Reminders
  •  December is Men are Essential Month.  Submit how the males at your school are important and involved to office@ncpta.org now to be entered in a drawing for $100 for your PTA.  Deadline is December 15.
  • S.P.I.C.E. Grant winners will be announced on January 14th at the Full Council meeting from 11:30-12:30 at the Cultural Arts Center.  All delegates from our local units are asked to attend this meeting.  Full council meetings are the same as your local unit General Membership meetings. Student Reflections work will be on display as well.
  • Attend the Emerging Leaders Conference on February 8 in Charlotte.  Registration is only $10.  Click here for more information about this event.  Please encourage board members to attend - this is a fabulous event!
  • Share the new webinar from National PTA with all your parents. The first in a four-part webinar series designed to educate parents on the Common Core State Standards and empower them to support the transition at school and at home is now available. The PTA's goal is for parents to be knowledgeable about the standards and new assessments and to support them every step of the way as states transition to the standards.

  • December 15:  Submit how the males in your school make a difference
  • January 7: Reflection work hung by local Reflections chairs at the Cultural Arts Center
  • January 10: Reflections Ceremonies - Elementary 5:30pm, Middle and High 7:00pm at the Cultural Arts Center
  • January 14: Full Council Meeting, S.P.I.C.E. Grants awarded at 11:30a, in the Cultural Arts Center
  • January 16: Reflections work taken back to schools by local chairs
  • February 8: Emerging Leaders Conference, UNC Charlotte Center
  • March 7:  PTA Family Night at the ACC 
  • March: PTA Awards will be due - more to come!
  • May 8: PTA Awards Celebration
