PTA LEADER UPDATE
A weekly bulletin from your Council PTA to keep you informed.

Greetings
As many of you are aware, recent changes in state legislature as well as budget cuts, have left educators feeling unappreciated and frustrated.  On November 4th, Guilford County Schools is hosting a WALK-IN and invites parents, business leaders, school partners, elected officials, and other community members to visit schools anytime between student arrival and until 10:00 a.m. to write a note of support for a teacher, sign up to volunteer during American Education Week, read to students or to learn more about volunteer opportunities throughout the school year.

GCC of PTAs is asking PTA and PTSA leaders to help to make this a terrific day for GCS staff!  At your school, please greet visitors by setting up a table with notecards to write special notes, collect notes and encourage visitors to take advantage of volunteer opportunities.   Pre-printed notecards will be delivered to each school by the end of this week.  Please coordinate with your principal and board members to build upon this important day.

Visitors and students, may also bring pre-written notes or letters or a sign to show our teachers that we stand with them and hear their voices!  To affirm our unified support of those closest to our students - teachers, counselors, speech therapists and all of our educational support staff - everyone is encouraged to wear "Red for Public Ed" on November 4th.

Thanks for taking the time to show how much we appreciate all that educators do for our children every day and by helping make this GCS WALK-IN a great success!

Take care,
Katie Sayani

President
