PTA LEADER UPDATE
A weekly bulletin from your Council PTA to keep you informed.

Greetings
Thank you to all the PTAs and PTSAs who have submitted a S.P.I.C.E. grant this year. Special appreciation to the grant writers for their time and dedication to help engage families in the schools.

As we near November, hopefully you are promoting Reflections in your schools. This national cultural arts program encourages creativity and enhances children's education. Students can explore their artistic side through visual arts, photography, music, literature, dance choreography, and film production using this year's theme "Believe, Dream, Inspire".

This is really a wonderful program that highlights every child who participates!

Take care,
Katie Sayani
GCC of PTAs
President
Reminders
  • Register for Social Media and Internet Tools training with special presenter Eric Chilton from WFMY.  This leadership development training will be held at Kernodle Middle School on Tuesday, November 12th from 6-8pm

Resource: English as a Second Language (ESL)
Did you know GCS has more than 118 languages spoken in our classrooms and over 142 student cultural and ethnic groups throughout the district?

PTA is about reaching every child.  PTAs can help reach out to the families of these students with the help of your ESL teacher and the district's ESL resources:
  • Have fliers translated and sent home
  • Have translators available at your meetings
  • Hold a special meeting for those families to get to know what PTA offers and how they can help in their child's school
Whether you have one family or 100 families, give them the opportunity to feel comfortable and appreciated at your school!
