PTA LEADER UPDATE
A weekly bulletin from your Council PTA to keep you informed.

Greetings
Can you believe we are almost in October?!!  I love the Fall months - beautiful weather, colorful leaves, exciting football, fun school programs and our wonderful S.P.I.C.E. Grants!

Schools begin to get in their groove, and it is a great time to engage families and volunteers. Below are some links to tools to help your PTA do just that. Also, look out for our newsletter, The Council Connection, coming out this coming week. As you know, there are many advantages to being a PTA.  Our newsletter aims to show you the support that is offered at every level.

Be proud of your PTA!  Growth will come through promoting all the great things your PTA is doing for your students and continually thanking families for being involved.

Have a terrific week!

Take care,
Katie Sayani

Reminders
  • REGISTER for PTA Networking!  We want to pack the PTA room downtown. Share what your PTA is doing or concerns you have, but best of all, take away lots of new ideas and knowledge to share with your board.  Send anyone from your board of directors!  October 15th - Elementary @10am, Middle @6pm, High @7pm. 712 Eugene Street.
  • Send in your Council Membership Dues. This keeps your PTA in good standing and allows you to receive our full support, participate in free training, receive grants and much more.
  • Children shine when they participate in Reflections.  This year allow them to "Believe, Dream, Inspire" in music, literature, visual arts, film production, dance and/or photography. Click here for county deadlines.
  • Is your PTA/school short of volunteers?  Try the PTA Three for Me program.

Vice President
According to the bylaws:

Section 6.8 - Vice President(s). The vice president(s) shall perform duties requested by the president and the board of directors. In the event of a vacancy in the office of president, the vice president, or the vice presidents acting together if there is more than one, shall assume the duties of the president until a new president is elected pursuant to Section 6.4 of these bylaws.

So Presidents, delegate!  You can't do it all by yourself, that's why you have the support of a Vice President, as well as other members of the board. Sometimes a VP may feel lost about how to help, and they are not mind readers.  Share what you are doing and be specific about your needs.  This will also help them feel confident to take over if the need arises.
