School is almost here! I hope everyone has had a wonderful summer and is refreshed and ready tackle the year with excitement.
Your council board had their retreat and orientation yesterday at Haw River State Park, so we are ready to serve our local unit PTAs, the children of Guilford County and our community! Please reach out to us with any needs or questions. Also, share all the fabulous things your PTA or PTSA is doing this year.
I want to give a shout out to two PTA units! Allen Jay Elementary and Irving Park Elementary will receive $2000 National PTA Healthy Lifestyles grants!! Only 25 schools in the country are receiving these and 2 come from Guilford County...awesome!

- Register for training! Encourage your board members to attend our Parent Engagement Conference on September 14th. A must for PTA leaders!
- We still need contact information for MANY PTAs! Principals can reply to this email with new president details. Past presidents still receiving this can update our database if you have not already.
- PTA Leader and Principal packets were sent to schools last week from GCC of PTAs. Be sure to look through these, share with other board members and send in council membership dues with membership form. Please fill out the NEW survey on the back.

- The IRS requires that 501(c)(3) organizations obtain 3 quotes from vendors for your board to vote on. Here is a template you can use for this purpose.

- September 14th - Parent Leaders - Don't Miss!! Our Parent Engagement Conference and Full Council Meeting will be held at A&T University from 8:00am-3:00pm. There will be speakers and break out training sessions, plus lunch for everyone who registers. Highlights include keynote speaker Karyn Dickerson, NC Teacher of the Year, Common Core and PACE Updates, Leadership, Advocacy and Financial Training for your PTA. This event is sponsored by NCPTA, A&T University, and Guilford Parent Academy. Register Now
- October 15th - Network with other PTA leaders in your school level! Find out what other PTAs are doing, hear about their successes, swap ideas and more.
- Elementary Networking - 10-11am, PTA Room
- Middle School Networking - 6-7pm, PTA Room
- High School Networking - 7-8pm, PTA Room
- Register Now for these sessions to be held in the PTA Room located behind the GCS Building at 712 Eugene St.
- October 18th - S.P.I.C.E. Grant ONLINE submissions are due 11:59pm. Begin working on your PACKET.
- November 1st - $50 Council Membership dues deadline (due by October 18th if submitting a S.P.I.C.E. grant)
