Accepting Applications for Two Regional Aquaculture Positions
NOAA Fisheries has posted a job announcement to fill regional Aquaculture Coordinator positions in the Greater Atlantic (based in Gloucester, MA) and Pacific Islands (based in Honolulu, HI) regional offices.  These positions are critical to NOAA's sustainable aquaculture development objectives.  As the primary point of contact in each region for aquaculture matters, each coordinator will will work with regulators, researchers, industry, environmental organizations and other stakeholders on a wide range of permitting, outreach, and science coordination topics.  

Applications are due November 23, 2015.  

 
2016 SBIR Solicitation is Open
The 2016 NOAA Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Solicitation is open for Phase I funding. This year there are two subtopics relevant to marine aquaculture, which can be found on pages 54-57 of the solicitation:
  • Improving Outcomes of Marine Aquaculture via Genomic Approaches
  • Developing Technologies for Offshore Aquaculture in the United States

The solicitation will close January 14, 2016.

The SBIR program is a highly competitive program that encourages domestic small businesses to engage in Federal Research/Research and Development (R/R&D) that has the potential for commercialization. All SBIR proposals must directly benefit the NOAA mission, but should also be responsive to the greater market demands in order to be successful. The Government anticipates making multiple Phase I awards, each with a period of performance of six (6) months and a ceiling price not to exceed $120,000.00.
 
Contract Opportunity: Comparing U.S.-Canada Net- Pen Regulations
The Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada has announced a contract opportunity to compare aquaculture net-pen regulations in the U.S. and Canada.  This work supports aquaculture deliverables under the U.S.-Canada Regulatory Cooperation Council.  

The bid is open to applicants from the U.S. and Canada and closes on November 19, 2016.
