VINTAGE FOLK ART
from a private collection
Folk Tree owner Rocky Behr was invited to a private estate sale to view a major collection of folk art, primarily Mexican and Native American in origin. Every piece she acquired is vintage, at least 50-60 years old, including ceramics by Isaura Alcantara Diaz (the matriarch of the renowned Aguilar family), figures by master woodcarver Manuel Jimenez, clay animals from Guerrero, and Peruvian retablos and pottery. There are also pieces from Guatemala, Portugal and India. The original owners were world travelers from an old California family, and the focus of their collection was Mexican and American Indian art.
