We need all hands on deck here at St. Katharine Drexel parish and we have many wonderful opportunities for everyone to get involved. The Shared Ministry Fair is coming on May 20 - 21 and you will have the chance to see and talk with coordinators of the various areas. Whether it be helping with our liturgies and music, faith formation and youth activities, social concerns and parish outreach or helping to build our community and develop and administer our parish there is a place for all of us. To help you decide which areas are best suited to you and your family's time and talent, we are compiling a Shared Ministry booklet which will be distributed to every family before the Shared Ministry Fair. This booklet will explain what each ministry does, where and when it meets and who is coordinating that area.( Note: If you are the head of a ministry here and have not received a form to fill out explaining your area let Marc Stockert know as soon as possible.)
All parishioners - young and old and those in-between - will be able to sign up either at the Fair or when we pass out the sign up sheets at the Masses on June 3 & 4.
As Mom always says, " Many Hands Make Light Work!"

Thanks, Mom, For Life!

Kids of all ages plan on honoring Mom's place in your life by purchasing for her a flower for Mother's Day. Here at St. Katharine Drexel we will have  beautiful orchid corsages and  fresh long lasting long stemmed carnations. Back by popular demand will be three different potted plants: mini rose bushes, blooming begonias and African violets. For your convenience, they will be available in the church entrance, for a reasonable price before and after all the masses on May 13th & 14th -Mother's Day weekend.  Proceeds will go to the Respect Life Cause  so donations are gladly welcomed. Make your mom, grandma, god-mother or whoever fills that role for you feel extra special!

Knights of Columbus Tootsie Roll Drive

The SKD KC's will be doing a fundraiser the last weekend in April for non-profit organizations that assist children with in-tellectual disabilities and their families. Last year our council members collected just over $2000, with over $900 going to Arc Greater Twin Cities and the same amount to Down Syndrome Association of Minnesota. There was nearly another $200 that was given to the State KC Council to assist putting on their Special Olympics Fall Bowling Classic for these special girls and boys throughout the state.
You may see some of our members outside of Coborn's and Casey's handing out Tootsie Rolls that weekend. Any donations we receive for the candy treats are greatly appreciated. If you don't get to Casey's or Coborn's that final weekend in April and would like to help us with our fundraiser, we will be outside of SKD after Masses on Saturday and Sunday, the 29th and 30th. If you see us, please take a Tootsie Roll or two and if you have some change, please help us raise money for this great cause. Thank you.

Special invitiation to 5th graders! Facilitators Mike McNeil, Tina Joens and Yvonne Larson invite all families with 5, 6, 7 and 8th graders to participate in the May 3rd EDGE session. Our Theme is "Hospitality with prayer and games." This is our last session of the 2016-2017 school year so youth going into 8th grade are invited to come and see.
EDGE for Middle Schooler's begins at 5:30 pm with pizza and runs to 7:00 pm.

Hello, SKD,
We are starting to plan for our annual trip to St. Mary's Mission in Red Lake, MN.  The dates are June 19-23, 2017.  You can stay the entire week or the days that work out for you. The children are happy to have us for as long as we can stay.  We will be working with kids in the school grades K-6 as well as the elderly in the nursing home. We will learn about the Ojibwe tribe and celebrate mass with Fr. Jerry.  Please seriously think about coming on this trip to connect with our sister parish.  It is a life changing experience. Thank you.
Please contact either Deacon Randy 763 400 7203 Randy @sjtw.net or Vivian Jeffrey 612 741 4422 vwjeffrey@msn.com for further information.

Using Scrip is Easy . . . and it Helps SKD
All of us do some shopping. Why not do it with Scrip cards? Many of the places we shop have scrip cards available. There are even hotels, airlines, cruises and car rental cards available for your travels. You can order your cards at the Scrip Table after our 4:30 mass and between our 9:00 and 11:00 masses. Cards are ordered each week and are available for pick up the following weekend. Shopping with scrip does not cost you anything extra. You simply pay the face value for the scrip card. SKD purchases he cards at a discount and that is how the parish can generate a little extra revenue to support our ministries. We do stock cards for some local merchants - Coborn's, County Market, Cub, Bill's and Green Valley Nursery. You can also set up an online account and get electronic scrip cards instantly or reload scrip cards you purchased earlier. If you have any questions or want to know more about how you can use scrip and benefit the parish, stop by the Scrip Table in the hospitality room.
