Virtus Training for SKD Volunteers:

This weekend Saturday March 4th!
All volunteers who minister to vulnerable adults and youth need to have taken a Virtus training along with a background check and signing a code of conduct.

Our neighboring parishes hold these classes regularly. However SKD will have a session in the Spring, on Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 8:30 to 11:30 am in the hospitality room.

If you are thinking about how you would wish to volunteer in youth activities & outreach I invite you to sign up for this SKD session. The more qualified volunteers we have at SKD the more opportunities for spiritual and social growth can be offered.
Walk ups welcome or contact me.

In Christ's peace, Mike McNeil

Generations of Faith: The 2016-2017 theme of Mass to Mission concludes with our final session focusing on...
"The High Holy Days of the Easter Triduum."
The summit of the Liturgical Year is the Easter Triduum-from the evening of Holy Thursday to the evening of Easter Sunday. These are the holy days, which make up Holy Week. Although chronologically three days, they are liturgically one day unfolding for us the unity of Christ's Paschal Mystery. The single celebration of the Triduum marks the end of the Lenten season, and leads to the Mass of the Resurrection of the Lord at the Easter Vigil. Join the learning community of SKD as we walk through the rituals of and explain the meaning behind the oils, washing, veneration, candles and readings of the Triduum.
CHANGE IN SCHEDULE: There is only the Wednesday March 22 session of GOF; there will not be a Sunday session. The 5:15 pm meal is sub-sandwiches. Families may sign up online or in back of church. Your signing up early helps with the preparations for the night, especially preparing for the meal.

Hello, SKD,
We are starting to plan for our annual trip to St. Mary's Mission in Red Lake, MN.  The dates are June 19-23, 2017.  You can stay the entire week or the days that work out for you. The children are happy to have us for as long as we can stay.  We will be working with kids in the school grades K-6 as well as the elderly in the nursing home. We will learn about the Ojibwe tribe and celebrate mass with Fr. Jerry.  Please seriously think about coming on this trip to connect with our sister parish.  It is a life changing experience. Thank you.
Please contact either Deacon Randy 763 400 7203 Randy @sjtw.net or Vivian Jeffrey 612 741 4422 [email protected] for further information.

Let's Do It Again
Thank you to the 150 people who showed up at Feed My Starving Children to pack 204 boxes of food. This was a great way to celebrate our parish anniversary. Our next volunteer time is Saturday, February 18, 9:00-11:00 am. You can sign up to volunteer by going to their website, volunteer.fmsc.org and select SKD as your group or enter the code for our group, 898608. You can also volunteer by contacting Deacon Randy, [email protected] or 763-400-7203 (work), 763-205-1528 (home). Feed My Starving Children is located at 401 93rd Ave NW, Coon Rapids

Living Stations of the Cross

Using Scrip is Easy . . . and it Helps SKD
All of us do some shopping. Why not do it with Scrip cards? Many of the places we shop have scrip cards available. There are even hotels, airlines, cruises and car rental cards available for your travels. You can order your cards at the Scrip Table after our 4:30 mass and between our 9:00 and 11:00 masses. Cards are ordered each week and are available for pick up the following weekend. Shopping with scrip does not cost you anything extra. You simply pay the face value for the scrip card. SKD purchases he cards at a discount and that is how the parish can generate a little extra revenue to support our ministries. We do stock cards for some local merchants - Coborn's, County Market, Cub, Bill's and Green Valley Nursery. You can also set up an online account and get electronic scrip cards instantly or reload scrip cards you purchased earlier. If you have any questions or want to know more about how you can use scrip and benefit the parish, stop by the Scrip Table in the hospitality room.
