Having heard Christ speaking to us in the living Word of God and having received his very Body and Blood in Holy Communion, the community goes forth as Disciples of Christ. Although the Mass has ended, our mission as Christians begins once again. Healed, forgiven, fed and sent, we are ready to follow Christ. However, where does he want to take us? Begin finding answers at our next GOF session The Concluding Rites of the Mass, Sun Feb 12 and Wed. Feb. 15.

The meal for Feb. is potluck soup and chili.

Register for  The Concluding Rites; Sunday Feb 12 and Wednesday Feb 15.
Stay late or come early for fellowship

SKDTeens and friends are invited to the following spring events; Feb 22 game night, 7:30 PM; March 15 koffee house; and April 21 scavenger hunt.
In addition, there are plans in the works for living stations in April, service day and a trip to the Lifeline youth Mass in St. Paul. These events are all open to at least 9-12 graders.  Join our Remind for updates. Text@skdt to 81010 to get up dates and register for events.

Virtus Training for SKD Volunteers:

All volunteers who minister to vulnerable adults and youth need to have taken a Virtus training along with a background check and signing a code of conduct.

Our neighboring parishes hold these classes regularly. However SKD will have a session in the Spring, on Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 8:30 to 11:30 am in the hospitality room.

If you are thinking about how you would wish to volunteer in youth activities & outreach I invite you to sign up for this SKD session. The more qualified volunteers we have at SKD the more opportunities for spiritual and social growth can be offered.

In Christ's peace, Mike McNeil

Hello, SKD,
We are starting to plan for our annual trip to St. Mary's Mission in Red Lake, MN.  The dates are June 19-23, 2017.  You can stay the entire week or the days that work out for you. The children are happy to have us for as long as we can stay.  We will be working with kids in the school grades K-6 as well as the elderly in the nursing home. We will learn about the Ojibwe tribe and celebrate mass with Fr. Jerry.  Please seriously think about coming on this trip to connect with our sister parish.  It is a life changing experience. Thank you.
Please contact either Deacon Randy 763 400 7203 Randy @sjtw.net or Vivian Jeffrey 612 741 4422 vwjeffrey@msn.com for further information.

February Food Drive
Our monthly food drive will be at all of the masses February 18 & 19. Our drive this month is for the Franciscan Brothers of Peace. Non-perishable food, personal care items and household items are needed. Monetary donations are also appreciated. Checks should be made payable to Franciscan Brothers of Peace.

Let's Do It Again
Thank you to the 150 people who showed up at Feed My Starving Children to pack 204 boxes of food. This was a great way to celebrate our parish anniversary. We will continue to reserve all 140 spots the last Saturday of January as an anniversary celebration. Now we need to fill our regular 10 volunteer spots for the other months. Our next volunteer time is Saturday, February 18, 9:00-11:00 am. You can sign up to volunteer by going to their website, volunteer.fmsc.org and select SKD as your group or enter the code for our group, 898608. You can also volunteer by contacting Deacon Randy, randy@sjtw.net or 763-400-7203 (work), 763-205-1528 (home). Feed My Starving Children is located at 401 93rd Ave NW, Coon Rapids

Kate's Sisters

Using Scrip is Easy . . . and it Helps SKD
All of us do some shopping. Why not do it with Scrip cards? Many of the places we shop have scrip cards available. There are even hotels, airlines, cruises and car rental cards available for your travels. You can order your cards at the Scrip Table after our 4:30 mass and between our 9:00 and 11:00 masses. Cards are ordered each week and are available for pick up the following weekend. Shopping with scrip does not cost you anything extra. You simply pay the face value for the scrip card. SKD purchases he cards at a discount and that is how the parish can generate a little extra revenue to support our ministries. We do stock cards for some local merchants - Coborn's, County Market, Cub, Bill's and Green Valley Nursery. You can also set up an online account and get electronic scrip cards instantly or reload scrip cards you purchased earlier. If you have any questions or want to know more about how you can use scrip and benefit the parish, stop by the Scrip Table in the hospitality room.
