| Once again THI was able to prepare kids for the classroom by providing backpacks, school supplies and uniforms on August 23. This was possible because of generous donors, including longtime partner, Parker Hannifin.

Dear Friend,
Happy Fall! With Thanksgiving next month, I have been reflecting on all THI has to be grateful for. For starters, we are grateful to have been able to keep our doors open to those who are the most vulnerable. With funding from generous donors, we are also able to continue our vital programs and services to allow residents to heal, learn, grow and to, ultimately, achieve their highest level of independence.
We are also extremely grateful to have such a wonderful supporter and friend in Danita Harris. On August 29, Danita hosted An Evening of Hope Gospel Fest at Mt. Zion Church in Oakwood. With over 300 guests and a star studded lineup, the event raised much needed funds for THI. We are even lucky enough to have Danita join us again for our Home for All Ball as the emcee on November 15.
We are also grateful for our amazing Board of Directors, who in the past year has completed the arduous task of completing a strategic plan. They are currently implementing the plan, which includes shifting from a transitional housing model to a permanent supportive housing model (which has been completed), selecting a new name for the organization (which will be unveiled at the Home for All Ball) and creating a plan to diversify revenue (plan is currently being implemented). We would not be where we are today without this group of dedicated individuals.
With a grateful heart, I also want to thank you for your continued support. THI would be nowhere without the help and support of our generous donors and supporters. Please read further to hear about some of the things we have done these past few months (there has been a lot!) and ways that you can help. Thank you!
Sincerely, Sherri Brandon, MSSA

Meet Donald Dupree, THI's Employment and Education Specialist. Donald works hard to help both THI residents and those in the community find and retain employment. Recently, Donald helped couple Tajuan Armstrong and Angel Franklin, both non-residents of THI, find employment. Tajuan and Angel live in Cleveland Heights with their four children and worked at THI through Cuyahoga County's Work Experience Program. While Donald worked with Tajuan and Angel to spruce up their resumes and prepare them for interviews, the couple continued to learn skills and gain experience through their responsibilities at THI.
After some hard work and applying for several positions, Angel was hired on the spot at Macy's in University Heights where she works in merchandising. Soon after, Tajuan gained employment at HCR ManorCare in Rocky River working as a dietary aid. These are just two of the many employment success stories at THI.
Congratulations to Tajuan, Angel and all the others who have gained employment through THI.

Transitional Housing Inc.'s Associates Board is a group of young professionals who plan volunteer opportunities and fundraisers to benefit the work of Transitional Housing Inc. The group meets once a month and is always looking for new members. If you are interested in giving back to your community, while having a great time, please contact Maggie Byrne at 216.781.2250 or [email protected].
In August, the Associates Board provided a meal to all THI residents as well as held Ride for THI, a spin class fundraiser that raised over $1,000 at Harness Cycle. Stay tuned for their next event Browns Viewing Party on Sunday, November 23 at 1pm at Around the Corner in Lakewood.
