This year we have twenty-eight Retail Nursery Center crew members in Ames, working varying shifts. Along with their main duty of helping customers, they help unload and put away truckloads of plants, get all newly arriving plants tagged, keep things fertilized, weeded and watered, and pull plants for projects our landscape crews are installing.  

Look for a friendly face in a red t-shirt when you need assistance!

Our Ames Retail Nursery Center is receiving shipments of plant materials almost every day and we are showcasing an EMPLOYEE PLANT PICK OF THE WEEK again this year. Last year, it was all perennials. This year we opened it up to include favorite trees, shrubs OR perennials. The Plant Pick of the Week will be available at 20% OFF THE REGULAR PRICE the week it is featured.

If you get our newsletters, you know this is something we write about every summer.  But we are coming into Japanese Beetle season once again. These little insects can cause a lot of damage in a short amount of time (sometimes overnight).

Another thing we talk about every year is to remember to keep plants watered.  This is especially true for plants in their first or second growing season.  Despite the recent rains, once we start experiencing hot, dry, windy days, it is critical to keep your plants well-watered.
