We're Back!
Saturday,
September 13, 2014 is
your lucky day!
Back from our summer hiatus, we have a great selection of lovely plants eager to go home with you and flourish in the long-awaited winter rains. In addition to the ultra hospitable bloodflower pictured above, we have a fine selection of new hypericums, some charming sweet potato vines, and the always elegant euphorbias.
In case you are wondering what makes bloodflower so hospitable - well, it's a wonderful host plant for one of the life stages of the Monarch butterfly....
 |
I'd really like to make it to my butterfly stage - I wonder who's got a good plant for me?
|
Speaking of enjoying this fine fall weather - we should too! Don't forget to RSVP...
Bring your family and friends, to enjoy a

In truth, we'll all be looking forward to a fine party at month's end, since it will finish off a really busy month for us. In addition to getting ready for the plant sale, some of our doings have included participating in the Contra Costa Master Gardener's Sustainability Fair.
 |
A good many folks stopped by our booth at the CCMG Sustainability Fair last Saturday.
|
We were happy to be able to tell a lot of attendees about Concord's "secret garden". Some folks had fond memories of going to Science Camp there when they were kids.
We've also been hard at work at the park...

The Concord Young Professionals Network with Mayor Tim Grayson
|
The Concord Young Professionals Network (https://www.facebook.com/concordyopros) helped fund and plant a rare palm tree. They're a wonderful group, committed to developing as good citizens, as well as excellent professionals.
We'll also be looking forward to another year of outstanding volunteer effort by the Chevron Corporation's employees. You'll find them hard at work, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday of next week, mulching, digging holes for plant signs, and clearing the creek.
