Our Eager Young Tomato Plants...

Did You Wait????

Good! 'Cause We're Ready!!

Finally!  Our excellent vegetables, and beautiful ornamental plants are waving their leaves in excitement. It's time to go home with you!

Click here for the full shopping list of tomatoes, and here for a second list for all our other edibles... and check out the amazing plants provided by our guest vendors specializing in irises and geraniums.

We promised a brief rundown on a few of our star heirloom tomatoes - so here goes....

Indigo Blue Tomato
The gorgeous indigo Blue ChocolateTomato

The Blue Chocolate Tomato is a new release! This rich, purple and chocolate-y brown variety has all the features you want in a tomato: locally bred (by Brad Gates in Napa), packed with anthocyanins which are proven to fight cancer, and very sweet. The plants have great production, are sunburn and crack resistant, and the 1-2 oz. tomatoes have excellent 'hang time' and shelf life. Just be a little patient - let them ripen to get that full flavor!

Northern Lights Tomato
Northern Lights Tomato
Well, once you've stopped wondering why this tomato has a ruler in front of it like a police line-up - and, no, they are way too delicious to have been used in a tomato throwing fight - you will be able to focus on its many many virtues.... Yes, they are beautiful. Also, for beefsteaks, they come early to the party (mid to late June) and they keep bearing until frost.  And finally, they work really well with the summer weather we've had the past few years - one of our members who lives in Orinda got a scandalous amount of these last year.

And do not forget to pick up some great varieties of summer's gift to herbs... the versatile basil.

Basil
Basil is good in everything

We grew five different varieties from all over the globe of this must-be-summer-taste herb. You can plan on some delicious meals, of course - but they'll also be very good for you. Did you know that basil is high in phenolic compounds? This is the stuff that plants manufacture to protect themselves from pests and diseases - which just happens to be very good for people, too.  So, get ready with fork and knife for your pasta, bruschetta, and salad.
