Plants headed to car trunk
A photo taken last summer of plants going to their new home.  Now that spring is here, it's time to load up the carts!

Springtime has arrived - and, on March 22nd, so has the first of our plant sales!

Please join us for a great plant sale and a terrific speaker...

Our noses have been pressed to the window, waiting for the beginning of the plant sale season. We've been busy though, getting the place tidied up and ensuring that all our eager young plants - and winter veterans - are ready to go home with you.

In addition to the usual fine line of interesting and unusual plants, including many native, and drought tolerant ones, we particularly commend your attention to the following real winners.
Allium
The Beautiful and Hardy Wild Onion

A Plant that Can Work with Clay -

Allium Unifolium is a native California bulb and perennial herb. This wild onion's leaves form a 1'x2' mound with half inch lavender/pink flowers from May-July. A tough little plant, the allium thrives in clay soil, is drought tolerant, deer resistant and can take even more frost than we had this year. Plant in full sun and allow to go dry when dormant. Hardy to <0F.

Centradenia grandifolia
Outer as well as inner beauty - the gorgeous Trailing Princess Flower

Centradenia grandifoliaThis charming plant, with a name like a Disney heroine - Trailing Princess Flower - is an easy, fast and beautiful evergreen perennial native to Mexico. It has lovely bronze leaves and profuse cerise blooms. Give it full sun to partial shade with average to low water. It's a great plant for rock gardens and hanging baskets, and it loves to climb. Blooms summer to fall and is hardy to 20F.

Our great March 22nd Plant Sale Speaker.....

How Much Do You Really Know?

Kathy Echols Presentation: "Garden Myths"

10:00 am

Gardening has always been partly a process of passing on wisdom from gardener to gardener - but maybe some of our common beliefs are just not scientifically true.

We are extremely pleased to have Ms. Echols,

an internationally recognized plant breeder and propagator, share some revealed truths about garden practices.  Ms. Echols is the past president of the International Plant Propagators Society and was an instructor for 20 years in the horticulture department at Diablo Valley College (DVC). Since retiring from DVC several years ago, she has concentrated on consulting and speaking.
