Only God Can Make a Tree....

However, we do have some excellent experts who can explain them...

Please join us for a fascinating talk on:

Trees of the East Bay

Thursday, Feb. 20, 6:30 pm, San Ramon Library

Planning to plant trees in your garden this spring?

Stew Winchester, local tree expert, and Arti Kirch, President of the Markham Arboretum, will talk about trees that grow well in our area.

The presentation and slide show includes:

   *How to select and plant a tree

   *Sample trees from the Markham collection

   *What to consider when selecting an     arborist & maintenance considerations

   *Troubleshooting/examples of tree problems

We are fortunate to have two excellent presenters;

Stewart Winchester:

 Mr. Winchester is a renowned plantsman who has been on the faculty of the horticulture departments at Diablo Valley and Merritt Colleges for 20+ years.  He specializes in trees and California native plants and is a sought-after consultant on projects ranging from residential to commercial-scale installations. He has contributed to seminal publications, including the award-winning "Plants and Landscapes for Summer-Dry Climates in the San Francisco Bay Region".  In connection with his teaching he leads field trips throughout California to foster understanding and appreciation of the rich California flora and the importance of protecting these resources.

Arti Kirch:

Many of you have the pleasure of knowing the MRAS' busy and efficient new president. Ms. Kirch is a Master Gardner, and the Co-owner of "Kelley's and Arti's Plants".  In addition to her professional and personal interest in edible plants, she is a native habitats activist.

This free event is

Co-sponsored by the Markham Arboretum in Concord and the Monte Lindo Garden
