Garden in a Box |
In 2012, Troy McGregor constructed some Gardens in a Box for the Markham Nursery. These are demonstration gardens for seasonal edibles like lettuce, carrots, beets, kale, peas, and fava beans.
Taking advantage of the adage that "less is more," the simple design is perfect for people who want to grow a lot of vegetables in a small space.
The top of the box is a full 16 square feet of space, but there's more real estate than that. You can plant the walls as well!
Troy will be giving a class on how
to make these veggie boxes. The class will include information on where to get the supplies to build with and tips on how best to irrigate your crop. In addition, every attendee will have a chance to win the veggie box that we build that day.
