This is easily the most flamboyant of the South African conebush cultivars. Year round variegated leaves cover the stems all the way up to the bracts which open out to crimson red during the winter months.

We have this one in gallons as well as a few in 5 gallons for that instant effect.

Nursery Hours:
Tuesdays 9am till Noon.

Watering to Establishment

In the coming two weeks we'll be discussing the options for irrigation and which types work best. This is often the last thing on our minds as we arrive home with our shiny new plant, but it is what's going to keep it alive to grow into the picture on the tag.

Living in a summer dry climate such as ours leaves us with two absolutes. Firstly, the chances of it raining during summer are on par with a group of truckers discussing their 'hopes and dreams' while sipping appletinis. Secondly, if you want your garden to thrive you'll need to add a little water. This is where it can get a little confusing as there are more opinions, products and solutions than well... appletini drinking truckers.

That being said, we'll try to offer some tips on what's worked and what hasn't. We'll touch on the numerous types of products available and under which circumstances they each work best.

Next week... Micro Irrigation (Spray)

Don't forget, the nursery is still open every Tuesday from 9am till Noon so feel free to stop in and see what we're up to.
Thanks for your continued support and we look forward catching up at the next Saturday Plant Sale on September 8 (if not on a Tuesday sooner).
