Nursery Hours: Tuesdays 9am till Noon.
Changes in the Works (Cont.)
Our Newest Garden
The bed at the nursery gate got a big facelift yesterday with the addition of over 50 mother plants.
Mother plants, for those not familiar with the term, are not plants that give you till the count of three to eat your vegetables or embarrass you by posting pictures of (a three year old) you in your birthday suit on Facebook.
Mother plants are used for propagation material. The bed will also be a great show case of plants for sale inside.
Our hard working (and just a little rowdy) group of volunteers gloved up and got to work early. In no time the bed was weeded, irrigated and planted.
Without the hard work and commitment of our volunteers we wouldn't be able to operate the nursery and offer the range of plants that we do. Many are (or are in the process of becoming) Master Gardeners who are a wealth of information on plants, pests and local garden problems. Have a garden question? Pop on down on Tuesday mornings and ask the experts.
FYI - The plants were irrigated with an inline drip system which I'll talk about in more detail in coming emails.
Don't forget, the nursery is still open every Tuesday from 9am till Noon so feel free to stop in and see what we're up to.
Thanks for your continued support and we look forward catching up at the next Saturday Plant Sale on September 8 (if not on a Tuesday sooner).
