Summer is a busy time when it is easy to become disconnected. Easy to get out of the routine that supports our perfect balance. This can feel frustrating as the weeks pass until by Autumn we may end up feeling a little defeated - as if we lost ground on all the progress we had so proudly made.... Almost as if we are back at square one.

Two things are helpful to remember: In all things there are periods of ebb and flow, and keeping to the fundamental basics - those things we learned in the very beginning - will anchor us when needed.

Ebb and flow is a perfect rhythm that keeps things "coming" in and at the same time "going" out. Another way to say this is manifesting and releasing. While it is important to honor the periods of growth in our life process it is equally important to allow ourselves to grow through periods of dormant times. We get excited about those periods of change where we can see or feel progress and newness, however, it is also those periods of play, and times when we just go with the flow and have no grand plan that big things are going on. During those times we assimilate the things we have learned (nurturing is a kind of passive activity and a vital one to any growth process).

It is helpful to always have one or two very basic habits that we do not lose even when our regular routines get skewed. Prayer and meditation take very little time and are easily worked in at the odd moments of the day. Prayer as we know is talking to Spirit, and can be done during the morning walk, driving to the store or while preparing a meal. Spirit listens at all times and gives us a wonderful platform for releasing thoughts and emotions, asking for guidance and support, and getting a refresh on our reservoir of joy through the expression of praise and gratefulness. Meditation as we know is listening to Spirit. It's when those sought after answers show up and guidance is laid out and clarity happens.

These two fundamental basics will help create balance and a sense of well-being and keep us connected to Spirit and to each other. And because energy begets energy, a beautiful synergy is created when a group of like-minded people are ebbing and flowing in kind.
