We are all familiar to some degree of the power of words. How many of us have a favorite quote from a movie or book, or a favorite verse in a song? As our awareness expands on any subject the use of words also expands, including our understanding of the meaning behind words.

Ancient cultures understood the power of words - the Egyptian Goddess Isis was worshiped for many things. Some call her the Goddess of Great Healing or the Lady of the Words of Power.  It is told that through her offering to heal Ra, Isis received Ra's knowledge relating to the magic and power of spoken word, the power to manifest and create with words. In the Bible (ESV), John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." In every culture, the stories, myths and legends, prayers and blessings, poems and songs all remind us that we wield tremendous creative power with our words. Choosing our words to reflect that which we desire to create and experience within our life has been part of community consciousness from the beginning.

More recently science is discovering there is a vibration in words. There are numerous books written on this topic - our thoughts are vibrations that contain information. When we speak, our spoken word amplifies the vibration of our thoughts by "grounding" them in this dimension. Our spoken word takes the vibration of our thoughts and moves it from the mental plane into the physical plane. The more we focus and speak the same vibration, the more grounded we are in that vibration.

We create a vortex of energy - a vibration that works like a magnet - drawing to us experiences that support the vibration we think in and speak in. All of this happens in our energy field. While we are speaking words of love and adoration, we are strengthening the magnet that draws in love and adoration. If we choose to speak words of fear and loathing, we will strengthen the magnet to draw in fear and loathing.

Energy is always moving, flowing in and out. Energy is fluid. Therefore because everything holds a vibration, your vibration is always lowering or increasing in response to your world.   The magic comes in when you become present and aware and then do something to raise the vibration with consciousness. Following are a couple of examples of how vibration is evident in our lives.

Gary Young's article, Frequency and Distillation -- Human Electrical Frequencies and Fields shares what inspired him to create Young Living Essential Oils: "For a number of years during my clinical practice, I researched the use of electrical energy for the purpose of reversing the disease process. I kept feeling that there had to be a more natural way of increasing a person's electrical frequency, which led to the discovery of the electrical frequency of oils."

His article goes on to explain that frequency is the rate at which electrical energy is constant between two points. Everything has an electrical frequency and can be measured in Megahertz. Bruce Tainio of Tainio Technology in Cheney, Washington, developed equipment to measure the bio-frequency of humans and foods. He worked with Gary Young to determine the relationship of frequency to disease and some of their research follows:

• A healthy body, from head to foot, typically has a frequency ranging from 62 to 78 MHz, while disease begins at 58 MHz.
• The frequency of essential oils started at 52 MHz and went as high as 320 MHz, which is the frequency of rose oil.
• In a Frequency and Coffee Experiment two males began with a frequency of 66 MHz. In the experiment, Gary used essential oils to raise the vibration. (Similarly, you can raise the vibration with your reiki, prayer, declarations, thoughts of love).
  
  • Male A: held a cup of coffee, without drinking any. In 3 seconds, his frequency dropped to 58 MHz. He removed the coffee and inhaled essential oils. Within 21 seconds, his frequency returned to 66 MHz.
  • Male B: took a sip of coffee. In 3 seconds, his frequency dropped to 52 MHz. No essential oils were used. It took 3 days for his frequency to return to 66 MHz
  • As this experiment indicates, our frequency changes as things move in and out of our energy field.
  • Frequency and Thoughts Experiment
    • Negative thoughts lowered the frequency by 12 MHz
    • Positive thoughts raised the frequency by 10 MHz
    • Prayer and meditation increased the frequency by 15 MHz

   ugly and very beautiful forms which test water took on under a microscope in response to the words the water was subjected to. Dr. Emoto said, "The words themselves actually emit a unique vibration that the water is sensing. When water is shown a written word, it receives it as vibration, and expresses the message in a specific form, like a visual code for expressing words. Water exposed to the words Thank You formed beautiful geometric crystals, no matter what the language. But water exposed to You Fool and other degrading words resulted in obviously broken and deformed crystals. When a complete geometric crystal is formed, water is in alignment with nature and the phenomena we call life. The words Gratitude and Love form the fundamental principles of the laws of nature and the phenomenon of life."

The examples just shared are of the vibration of the human body, the vibration of essential oils, the vibration of thoughts and the vibration of words. The purpose of this article is to bring about awareness to the reality that we choose what affects our vibration - from our thoughts, what we put in and around our body, our relationships, and actions or the inactions we take. There are lots of variables involved in determining our vibration - today we are focusing on the vibration of our thoughts and words. It is important to notice (be conscious of) what vibration we are amplifying with our words.

While it may be hard to swallow, there is truth in the realization that what we speak is what we believe at our core. All our thoughts, feelings and emotions are based in one of only two emotions: Love or Fear. All other emotions stem from one of these. The difference in fear-based speech and love-based speech can be very subtle if we are not accustomed to noticing our language and intent. For example, it may sound like a nice thing to say to someone "Oh, I really hope your test goes okay" when in reality we are speaking the vibration of fear as if the test might not go okay...for hoping is not believing. Instead we could say "I trust your test will go well" or "You got this! Rock out that test" which is positive and encouraging...and based in love. Fear takes us into a lower vibration in varying degrees. When we choose words that are full of fear, we amplify the vibration of fear. The further we move away from love (and consequently more into fear) the more we move into the energy of victimhood, judgment and self-doubt. Once we have left the energy of love we have moved out of Dominion and must choose a "treatment" to raise our vibration and get back to the higher vibration of love.

Anytime you notice yourself feeling strongly about something or reacting strongly about something you are not neutral. Trace that feeling back to its core - is it Fear or is it Love? One way to support yourself in creating new habits of speaking and thinking is to keep yourself in an environment where others are working toward the same goal (energy begets energy, group energy is dynamic). As you practice noticing your words and the vibration they hold, staying in the vibration of love by attending meditations, Reiki events and classes will immerse you in the vibration of love.
