Greetings!
July is the warmest month in most of the Northern hemisphere where flowers are abundant and life is striving. The Larkspur, which is July's birth flower
stands for an open heart while the birth stone, Ruby,
is associated with devotion and happiness. This time
of the year calls for opening your hearts and soaking
in the sun. Summer is full of barbecue grills heating up,
fireworks, playing in the sand, heat, and fun with friends and family. Enjoy the summer's festivities this month!

So what is integrity? Webster's dictionary has four defines it in four ways: The first definition is "Strict adherence to a standard of value or conduct." To me the first one is having a value that upholds your personal truth and does not hurt others. That's where the conduct comes in to play. When we have integrity we are not only true to ourselves, we are also true to others we deal with, especially including those who are closest to us. Integrity is not a commodity; you can't buy it. You either choose to have it or you don't and sometimes those who don't have it can't because of their own character flaw.
The second definition according to Webster is "Personal honesty and independence." To me that means being honest with yourself and others and telling your truth even if the truth hurts. It doesn't mean being brutally honest; It means stating your boundaries that speak to your personal sense of worth and independence.
The third definition is "completeness: unity." I feel that speaks to how we feel about ourselves.
If you feel complete, you can state your truth without having fear that you will lose something or someone. When you have that unity within yourself, you can be at peace.
The fourth definition is "soundness." When I think of someone who has integrity, I think of someone who has clear and sound thinking.
Integrity is a very important core value and can make the difference between a life of stability and clarity and a life of ever changing values depending on what fits a person's personal needs at the time. When I hear people talk about a situation that was handled without integrity and they say, "Well, that's so common" or "that happens so often" or "so many people do that," I ask, Does that make it right because it is often accepted as the norm?
Integrity is a value and it affects our thoughts and behavior. It is part of our belief system and part of every decision we make. Carry it with pride.
