November 2013

november_image November is the month that we begin to think about winter and the holidays. Pumpkins, turkeys, apple pie, stuffing, squash all bring to mind Thanksgiving and what it means. For many, it's a time to be with family and friends. For those alone, it's a great time to connect with new and old friends and celebrate all that we have. Most of all, it's a time for giving thanks. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

"Patricia Raskin Positive Living" on WPRO AM630/99.7FM
Tune in as Patricia interviews Dr. Bernie Siegel, author and co-founder of ECaP-Exceptional Cancer Patients, a therapeutic approach Bernie calls Carefrontation that helps patients interpret their drawings, dreams and images to express their feelings about the healing process. As a physician who has cared for and counseled innumerable people whose mortality has been threatened by illness, Bernie embraces a philosophy of living and dying that stands at the forefront of the medical ethics and spiritual issues our Society grapples with today. In May 2011, Bernie was honored as one of the Top 20 Spiritually Influential Living People on the Planet. He continues to break new ground in the field of healing, supporting changes in medical education to "humanize" medical practice. He will discuss his new book, The Art of Healing: Uncovering Your Inner Wisdom and Potential for Self-Healing. This long-awaited follow-up to his bestseller Love, Medicine & Miracles updates Dr. Siegel's insights into the healing power of drawing, dreams, and intuition. The use of drawing in Bernie's practice has helped patients discover the physical, psychological, and emotional aspects of healing and guided them toward the best choices and options for their particular situation.

Prophet Share - Seasoned Professionals Sharing Trade Secrets
Prophet Share, Inc., formerly known as the RI Small Business Recovery Program, has emerged as an excellent example of what has become internationally known as "a sharing community".  In simple terms, "a sharing community" removes duplication that doesn't add value and concentrates on things that do add value. Through participation in Prophet Share, talented business owners and trainers (prophets) no longer have to individually own projection, video and recording equipment.  Nor do they have to rent expensive classroom or hotel space in order to share their talent and experience with their peers. As the result of this "penny-pinching" sharing approach, Profit Share, Inc. will be able to bring high-quality business training to the Rhode Island entrepreneurial community on a meager budget of less than $25,000 annually. In the past thirty two months, the Recovery Program provided peer-to-peer training to over 7,000 business owners and entrepreneurs.  With the collaborative efforts of experienced business leaders and teachers, Prophet Share, Inc. is expected to greatly add to that number.

To register for any of the free seminars below, please go to www.prophetshareri.com/events.  Any questions, please call Dave Nash at 401-447-8000.   All events will be held at the Centerville Seminar Center, 875 Centerville Rd, Warwick, RI - Building 2, Suite 5.

Health, Balance and Moderation

Good health is a combination of things. It's not just about being the ideal weight, being in shape and eating well. Those are components of good health, but the mental and spiritual aspects are just as important.

If you feel good physically but worry all the time, have no time to enjoy yourself, find yourself always catching up, or just going through the motions, your health is not in balance.

We are not encouraged to have balance. Diets offer us the quick fix of a ten or more pound weight loss in less than two weeks and books and tapes offer us ways to happiness if we follow ten easy steps. There are so many choices that our minds become cluttered and confused. Part of balance is knowing how to focus, find the right information and make clear choices.

Moderation is a key to balance and is not touted as much as the extremes, because the extremes get the attention. Moderation has a boring tone, but actually is a challenge to achieve to today's busy and fast paced world. Moderation is taking care of yourself physically in steady increments on a continual basis, taking breaks during each day to do something nurturing for yourself, and spending daily time in reflection or prayer. These increments can be small, but in steady doses they add up to integration and balance in your life.

This message of moderation as a key to balance is a good one as the holidays approach us. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.

Sincerely,

Patricia
