March 2013
Greetings!

pot of gold
March is known for St. Patrick's Day and the first day of Spring. I thought this Old Irish Blessing fit the photo and the season on many levels.

An Old Irish Blessing

May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life's passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!

Positively Speaking
Search for the Hidden Gems

This is from my book Pathfinding: Seven Principles for Positive Living. It is in the second principle, Be in the Precious Present.

Paying attention to your gut instinct and inner voice sounds easy, but can become challenging when choosing products and services that you know in your heart are right for you, but you are overruled by the voices of the world shouting at you. The temptation to seek happiness and contentment outside of yourself is prevalent today. Advertisers entice and reward you to buy something else to make you happy. TV commercials show you thousands of things to buy, guaranteed to bring fulfillment. Add the Internet, and you have millions of opportunities to purchase happiness and success. Newspapers and magazines bombard you with clever stories and articles that focus on your future success. Malls and shopping centers are filled with merchants whose sole purpose is to separate you from your money. The message is the same: You will not be happy unless you buy something at the places you are told to go.

How many times do you hear about a great store, therapist, book, restaurant that is not well known or advertised? It is often because the person or item hasn't been well promoted. My philosophy is to look for those people and places. They are the hidden gems and are usually not crowded or as harried as their commercial counterparts. They are often small, caring, warm and special. Some of the best professionals who have taught me the greatest lessons in life are not the famous authors and speakers. But their message is just as powerful.

Follow your own instinct when finding what you need. Big isn't always better.  The truth is, you don't have to go anywhere or buy anything else to find happiness, peace and contentment. You have your own hidden gems within you. You will find them in your inner space, not the outer space of the world.

Happiness and self-satisfaction reside in your consciousness. You can only reach these treasures through introspection, focus and desire. Although they are hidden from the naked eye, they glow brightly within your spiritual eye and they are activated by your positive thoughts.

Sincerely,

Patricia
