Greetings! February is the month of love. Whether you're in an intimate relationship or not, we are all in relationship with ourselves and those we love. The saying 'love makes the world go round' holds true for me and it is important to remember to love yourself. If you love roses and don't expect to receive them on Valentine's Day, give yourself the gift of love and buy yourself a dozen roses. I wish you all much love in your lives.

Committing to a Lifetime of Love
February is the love month, with the cornerstone of Valentine's Day which brings up the powerful emotion of love past, present, and future. This is the time to honor all of our loving relationships with significant others, spouses, family and friends. Leo Buscaglia writes, "There is nothing greater in life than loving another and being loved in return, for loving is the ultimate of experiences."
In my book Pathfinding, I write, "There is a special growing and nurturing dynamic that occurs through commitment and closeness... Loving relationships based on this kind of consideration and solidarity usually last. Enduring hardships are a joint concern. Fairness, empathy and tenderness seem to be the chief strategies loving couples use to lessen the cracks and bumps in the relationship.
Whether you are married, single, parents, children, friends, commit to a lifetime of love. To me that means knowing in your heart that your loved ones have good intentions and accepting them for who they are - their warts and all, appreciating their good qualities, accepting the not so good, and loving them anyway.
Here are some suggestions to attract the relationships you want in all areas of your life:
- Focus on what you want
- Know what didn't work in your relationships in the past and look at the opposites - that's what you want next
- See images of yourself feeling happy and joy filled
- Be with people and situations that bring you joy
- Do things for that nurture you - walks, baths, trips, presents, soul food, etc.
- Feel the feelings of emptiness that accompany loss of a partner, family member, friend or job. Do not stuff or bury the feelings or put them on hold. Express them and work through them.
- Know and see a better day tomorrow. Plan things that are uplifting. Lunch or dinner with your favorite people can do wonders for your spirit.
- Allow your childlike self to come out. Draw, run, laugh, watch funny movies, act silly and enjoy yourself.
- As February, "the love month" begins and ends, lets keep love alive all year.
Sincerely, Patricia
