Imagination Celebration "People's Choice" Poster Art Winner!
More than 4,000 people voted in this year's "People's Choice" Poster Art Contest on Arts Orange County's SparkOC.com.  From the 29 finalists, the winning work above, which followed this year's Imagination Celebration theme, "Imagination: Pathway to the Future," was by Vivian Nguyen, an 8th grade student at Jeffery Trail Middle School in the Irvine Unified School District
.  Her teacher is Stephanie Butler. Congratulations, Vivian!  She will receive tickets to Disneyland and a cash prize. Additionally, her teacher will receive a cash prize.
The Wooden Floor Will Add Location at Depot at Santiago
In 2017, The Wooden Floor will grow to serve 100 more children and their families at a new annex location within the Depot at Santiago workforce housing complex in Santa Ana. The Wooden Floor was specifically selected by Orange Housing Development Corporation and C&C Development, the developers of the property, due to its outstanding reputation, high artistic quality, and results.  Read more here.

360 XOCHI QUETZAL: Free Winter Residency for Artists
 
The 360 XOCHI QUETZAL Artist and Writer's Residency Program is located in Chapala, Jalisco, Mexico.  Its winter residency will take place December 14, 2016 - January 13, 2017.   The application deadline is August 7, 2016. Visual artists, photographers, dancers, writers, new media makers and musicians over the age of 23 are welcome to apply. One of the live/work spaces is earmarked for a writer and one for an emerging artist. Two-person collaborative teams are also encouraged to apply.  Complete details may be found here.
GRAND CENTRAL ART CENTER RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS MAP GRANT
Grand Central Art Center has been named one of this year's MAP Fund grantees, awarded $32,000 in support of Lisa Bielawa's artist-in-residence broadcast opera project Vireo, and an additional $7,200 in general operations support for GCAC.  The MAP Fund selected 36 new, live performance works from 790 applications, awarding a total of $1.1 million in direct support for project development and premiere. Primarily supported by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation with additional funds from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, MAP is an affiliate program of Creative Capital.  Established in 1989, MAP is among the longest-running grant programs in arts philanthropy, having supported over 1,120 new works of performance with a total of $28 million. MAP invests in artistic production as the critical foundation of imagining and - ultimately - creating a more equitable and vibrant society.
NATIONAL ARTS MARKETING, DEVELOPMENT & TICKETING CONFERENCE 

The National Arts Marketing, Development & Ticketing Conference will take place July 25-26 in Seattle, Washington at Benaroya Hall of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra.  This year's theme is: Practical Solutions for Your Complex Problems, and it includes a special digital marketing track.  More details here.
