"Your Brain on Improv" - Our 7th Annual Lecture--with a twist!

"Your Brain on Improv" - Dr. Charles Limb in OC on March 14
ArtsOC's 7th Annual Creative Edge Lecture featuring Dr. Charles Limb will be a departure from past presentations.  Limb has the unusual distinction of having held multiple appointments at Johns Hopkins University--in neuroscience AND in music!  A neuroscientist and a jazz musician, Limb was curious about just what happens in the brain when we are being creative and how can those findings help people take better advantage of their creative potential.  He gave a popular TED talk entitled "Your Brain on Improv" and contributed to a recent study released by the National Endowment for the Arts.
Joining him on stage at this year's lecture is the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance Ensemble which will help illustrate some of his points.
The lecture is presented in collaboration with the Orange County Department of Education, 4th District PTA, and the Segerstrom Center for the Arts. The title sponsor is Boeing.
Join us on Monday, March 14 at 10 a.m. in the Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall in Costa Mesa. A special half-price ticket is available to Arts Orange County members.  Use the code: Inspire when you purchase your tickets here.

Important IRS Information for Small Nonprofit Arts Organizations

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) recently announced that it is changing the website it uses to collect information from IRS Form 990-N filers--generally small nonprofit organizations averaging less than $50,000 in revenue. The Form 990-N is a very brief annual filing that smaller tax-exempt organizations are able to utilize in place of submitting the lengthier Form 990-EZ or Form 990. Many state, regional, and local affiliates and chapters of national nonprofit organizations qualify to submit the 990-N.  Complete details here.
