The Year Ahead in Grant Application Deadlines at the NEA & CAC

The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) has released deadlines and guidelines for its core grants programs for 2016 and has established a new funding program, Creativity Connects.
Applications have multiple stages, with the earliest deadline for each of the programs as follows:
First Round Art Works - February 18
Second Round Art Works - July 14
New Art Works: Creativity Connects - March 3
Challenge America - April 14
Deadlines for the Our Town and Art Works: Research grants have not yet been announced, but are typically in September and October.

The California Arts Council (CAC) has posted on its website preliminary information about its 2016 grantmaking programs.  Guidelines and application instructions are expected to be posted this month with application deadlines in the spring.
Of particular note this year is a new program, Cultural Pathways, designed to provide entry level funding and technical assistance to arts organizations with budgets of $150,000 or less that are rooted in communities of color, recent immigrant and refugee communities, or tribal groups.  Organizations that are not incorporated may apply using a fiscal receiver.
