Media Arts Santa Ana & Santa Ana Sites Join Cohort of Boeing-Funded ArtsOC Consulting Clients

Media Arts Santa Ana and Santa Ana Sites have joined the ArtsOC consulting cohort for 2015-16 funded by The Boeing Company. 
Media Arts Santa Ana (MASA) is the latest project from the creative team of Victor Payan and Pocha Peņa, combining three programs under the fiscal sponsorship of Community Partners. MASA provides film screenings, award-winning media arts training and workshops for the Santa Ana and Orange County communities.MASA produces the popular OC Film Fiesta, as well as the OC Cinema Camp and the Youth Murals and Media Class. Its mission is to inspire the growth and development of the Media Arts in Santa Ana by empowering the local community through classes, festivals, screenings, access to technology, workshops, special initiatives, social media training and networking opportunities. 
Santa Ana Sitesprovides contemporary performances in spaces throughout Santa Ana.  The traveling forum is designed to provide the community with artistic experiences while encouraging diverse environments. David Harrington, founder and artistic director of the Kronos Quartet; Backhausdance performing their dance installation, The Elasticity of the Almost; a performance from Inner Mongolian music  ensemble AndaUnion; wildUp and Lisa Bielawa in a roving contemporary musical treasure hunt in the Santora Building; a sound installation in a subterranean racquetball court by Steve Roden; cellist Maya Beiser playing from her album, Uncovered, at Logan Creative; Ate9 dANCE cOMPANY in a dance commissioned for, and premiered in, the Santora Building; Pacific Symphony / wildUp at Logan Creative; Ukranian ethno-punk ensembleDakhabrakha at the Historic Yost Theaterand Bang on a Can All-Stars playing Brian Eno's Music for Airports at the eSports Arena

Last week's National Endowment for the Arts grant awarded to the Huntington Beach Art Center was the first in its 20 years of operation.
The $10,000 Challenge America grant will fund A Day of the Dead celebratory contemporary exhibition that will showcase the cultural and historical significance of skulls and bones by local and national artists. Family-friendly arts activities, including workshops, lectures, and gallery tours, will engage the low-income and majority Latino community of the Oakview neighborhood in Huntington Beach, California in collaboration with the OakView Renewal Partnership.  The exhibition will run October 1 through November 5, 2016.  Huntington Beach Art Center is an Arts Orange County consulting client in 2015-16, funded by The Boeing Company.

National Arts & Humanities Youth Program Awards - Apply By February 2
The President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Institute of Museum and Library Services, is inviting applications for the 2016 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Awards.  Details here.
