15th Annual Orange County Arts Awards Performers Announced

The 15th Annual Orange County Arts Awards will include performances by these local artists:  Above, Craic in the Stone, a traditional & contemporary Irish band including members of The Chance Theater acting company; the Norbertine Fathers of St. Michael's Abbey in Silverado Canyon, a choral ensemble that will be performing that weekend with the Pacific Symphony; Devin Norris and his jazz ensemble from University of California, Irvine. Right column: John Bilezikjian, internationally acclaimed oud player; Dave Cross, award-winning guitarist; Dan Spector of Nutty, the jetsetter jazz ensemble.  Tickets are still available to attend the annual event at the Samueli Theater, Segerstrom Center for the Arts, on Wednesday, October 22.  More details here.

ArtsOC Welcomes New OC Arts Leaders at Reception at Logan Creative
Forty artists and arts leaders joined ArtsOC in welcoming several new colleagues on October 6th at Jack Jakosky's recently opened Logan Creative artist studios complex in Santa Ana.  The newcomers are: Dan Finley, CEO of MUZEO; Bob Gunn, Artistic Director, Men Alive; John Mangum, President & Artistic Director, Philharmonic Society of Orange County; Yevgenia Mikhailik, Curator, Irvine Fine Art Center; Todd Smith, CEO & Director, Orange County Art Museum;  Steve Venz, Visual & Performing Arts Coordinator, Orange County Department of Education; John Walcutt, Artistic Director, Shakespeare Orange County.  Attendees included:  John Forsyte, Pacific Symphony; Paula Tomei & Sophie Cripe, South Coast Repertory; Larry Cripe, The Chance Theater; Christine Olmstead, Orange County Department of Education; Doug Rankin, Irvine Barclay Theatre; Peter Keller and Julie Perlin Lee, Bowers Museum; Dr. Stephen Barker, University of California, Irvine-Claire Trevor School of the Arts; Bonnie Brittain Hall, Philharmonic Society of OC; Cathy Michaels & Melissa Wacherman, OC School of the Arts; Tony Manrique & Wesley Martin, All-American Boys Chorus; Larry Rosenberg, Anaheim Ballet; David Anderson, Saddleback College; Kevin Cartwright, Laguna College of Art + Design; Karen Wood, Laguna Playhouse; James Vaughan, Men Alive; Toni McDonald Pang, City of Irvine; Jane Bauman, Coastline College; Amy Grimm, Irvine Valley College; David Aeppli & Bill Gallagher, display; Hiromi Takizawa, artist; Diana Markessinis, artist; Sara Guerrero, Breath of Fire Latina Theatre Ensemble; Ryan Smolar, Downtown Inc.; Allen Moon, Santa Ana SITES; Mary Langsdorf, Orange County Women's Chorus; Suzanne Walsh, saltfineart; Ellen Breitman, curator; Evan Senn, arts journalist; Chris Trela, Chapman University; Phyllis Berenbeim, VSA California and others.  Refreshments were provided courtesy of Boldo, Diego's and Robbins Nest, coordinated by Ryan Smolar, Downtown Inc.  A guitar ensemble from OC School of the Arts performed.  Artists in residence at Logan Creative include Brett Price, Gregory Price, Andrea Harris McGee, David Michael Lee, Salvador Perez, Andres Jimenez Grande, Janelle Nicole Wylie, Robert Redding, and Brian Konoske.  ArtsOC's convenings and professional development activities are funded through a grant from Bank of America Foundation.
