Statewide Arts Education Advocacy Efforts Set Sail

Recently, the California Alliance for Arts Education staff and board members invited thirty local arts education alliance organizers to board the RMS Queen Mary for its third annual Local Advocacy Retreat. The retreat was facilitated by Arts Orange County's Pat Wayne (top row, far left). The boat never left the harbor, but we covered new territory for arts education advocacy, including the new Local Control Funding (LCFF) and the shift to Common Core.

LCFF represents an unprecedented opportunity to strengthen arts education and integrations programs in California schools. Working in partnership with Arts Orange County, the California Alliance for Arts Education is developing tools to help local advocates seize this opportunity.
