Arts Orange County has announced its 14th Annual Orange County Arts Awards honorees, which will take place on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 in the Samueli Theater, Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa.
Its Helena Modjeska Cultural Legacy Awards for lifetime achievement will go to arts philanthropists S. Paul and Marybelle Musco, Bowers Museum President Dr. Peter Keller, Fullerton Friends of Music Founder Beulah Strickler, and contemporary art champion and gallery owner Peter Blake.
The Annual Achievement Award for Outstanding Artist will go to sculptor Andre Woodward, for Outstanding Arts Organization to the Laguna College of Art + Design, and for Outstanding Contribution to the Built Environment to the New Swan Theater of University of California, Irvine's Claire Trevor School of the Arts.
Honorary Chairs of the 2013 Orange County Arts Awards are arts patrons Bette and Wylie Aitken. Mr. Aitken, a nationally known attorney and founder of the firm Aitken-Aitken-Cohn in Santa Ana, is also Chairman of the California Arts Council, the state arts agency.
The Event Chair is arts patron and Arts Orange County board member Janet M. Ray, who has served in that capacity since 2009.
Co-emcees for this year's event are Lucy Dunn, President and CEO of the Orange County Business Council, and Richard Stein, Executive Director of Arts Orange County since 2008.
