Dear IRHS Parents,
It is with sadness that I need to inform you that we lost one of our students over the weekend due to a suicide. Our student population has been notified today by teachers and counselors. In addition, the school's crisis team including counselors, psychologist and myself met with the student's current classmates and teachers. Our primary concern for each and every one of our student's is their personal safety. The main message that was communicated to all students today is that we care about them and are here to support them in any way we are able.
Counselors will be available on an ongoing basis for support on a walk in basis. We recommended students talk with an adult should they have any questions or concerns. Parents are encouraged to speak with their children about this difficult subject. You are welcome to contact our counseling office at 696-3933 in order to speak with your child's counselor.
It has been a sad and difficult day at IRHS. It is very clear to me that our students and staff care very much about the nighthawk community, and that we will continue to work towards supporting one another.
Most Sincerely,
Natalie Burnett
IRHS Principal
