TOBACCO USE BY STUDENTS

 

The possession or use of tobacco products, tobacco substitutes, electronic cigarettes, other chemical inhalation devices or vapor products is prohibited in the following locations:

  • School grounds.
  • School buildings.
  • School parking lots.
  • School playing fields.
  • School buses and other District vehicles.
  • Off-campus school-sponsored events.

The Superintendent may establish procedures necessary to implement this policy. Disciplinary penalties for the possession or use of tobacco or similar products (including any inhaled tobacco substitute) may include, but are not limited to, suspension of the student from school or a recommendation for expulsion when there is evidence of repeated and continuous violation of this policy.

 

Under the provisions of A.R.S. 36-798.03, a person who violates the prohibition is guilty of committing a petty offense.

Car Wash

The purpose of History Club is to increase historical knowledge on campus and enrich history classes by taking students to see

important historical sites.

Car Wash
IRHS's very own Chemistry Club will be having a fundraising car wash on October 19th from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM located at the Burger King on Oracle. All money goes directly to the club to use for buying supplies for the science department at IRHS and for other fun chemistry events! Car washes will be payed for by donation, what you feel appropriate, so feel free to stop by and support your chemistry club!

IRHS Varsity Cheerleaders want to help find a cure. A portion of the money raised through this fundraiser will

be donated to Breast Cancer Research.

Your YES vote allows Amphi Schools to:

  •  Reduce class sizes in core classes
  •  Expand art, music and PE programs in elementary schools
  •  Increase middle and high school electives and advanced placement courses including: International Baccalaureate®, Cambridge Academy®, Studio Art, Computer Science, Engineering, French, Music Theory, Teen Court, and a variety of Advanced Placement course such as, AP Psychology, AP Environmental Science, AP Physics/Mechanics, Biology, AP Statistics and AP Government.
  •  Year-round intervention programs for struggling learners
  •  Increased support of school facilities and technology equipment
  •  Attract and retain quality teachers and staff

Without the budget override:

  •  The district will be forced to cut more than $6.8M from its operating budget over the next two years
  •  The District will be at a disadvantage to retain quality teachers and staff
  •  Programs to students will be reduced or eliminated
  •  Class sizes will increase

Teacher and staff-Duck award winners for this week are:
  • Mr. Fletcher is always there to listen and lend a helping hand to colleagues.
  • Mrs. Scheel has a caring and kind nature with both students and faculty. She is always willing to help everyone, seeing students before and after school, as well as helping teachers with technology all of the time. She is also always so kind and positive.
  • Ms. Betty is always willing to help and makes people's jobs easier while doing it with a most pleasant attitude. She goes above and beyond to make sure everything is organized and everyone has the information needed. Regardless of how many questions she gets for the same thing, she always answers as if it was the first time. Thank youfor being such a bright smiling face for Ironwood Ridge!

Are you NOT taking the PSAT on Oct 18th, then you need to be at the UofA's Molecular and Cellular Biology's "2014 Vision to your Future" event. See Mrs Futch, or your counselor, for more info! There will be limited space available in a school van to get to this event. Oct 18 10am - noon.

 

Students - don't forget to check your due dates on your library books and get them returned on time!  Fines are applied when books are not returned on time.  Thanks!  The Library
