From Mr Szolowicz...

While many IRHS parents completed an extensive survey earlier this year for Advance-Ed, that survey did not include one key question that state law requires us to ask.

This survey addresses the question, "How would you rate the education your child is receiving?".  Please complete this survey as soon as possible.

Greetings from our new Principal, Natalie Burnett:

Dear Ironwood Ridge Parents,

I am very honored to have been selected as the new principal at Ironwood Ridge High School.  Both the Amphitheater School District and IRHS are well respected and I am quite privileged to be able to join you.  I am anxious to meet you and to begin to work with you, and you are probably curious about me.

I was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, and earned both of my degrees from the University of Alaska-Anchorage.  I began teaching High School Social Studies and History right out of college and loved my eight years in the classroom.  I entered the administrative ranks within the Anchorage School District in 2000.  I have worked in three of Anchorage's eight comprehensive high schools, and I opened Anchorage's newest high school as its founding principal.  I consider my work at Eagle River High School the highlight of my career in Alaska.

I raised my family in Alaska and have two daughters.  My older daughter, Rebecca, just graduated from the University of Nevada-Reno with a communications degree and is currently working there.  My younger daughter, Rachel, is a chemistry major finishing her junior year at the University of Arizona.

I am looking forward to becoming an active and involved member of the Ironwood Ridge community. My life's work has been within a family oriented community that prides itself in providing an excellent education for all children. I love working in schools, with students, with teachers, and with families.  It is my life's work and in it I have found no greater satisfaction.  I am convinced in the power of believing in kids and providing them a safe, positive, and actively engaged school community.  I work very hard and strive to set high expectations for myself thereby modeling them for others.

A positive school climate with an excellent staff and supportive parents is a priority for me as a leader.  I look forward to earning your respect and trust by building positive relationships one person at a time. I will need your help during this transition, as well as your patience with the change process.  I have much to learn about each of you in the Ironwood Ridge High School community.  I will appreciate your support along the way, and pledge to you my dedication, effort, and leadership.

 Respectfully,

Natalie A. Burnett
