The State of Arizona has released some computer-based, sample PARCC items.
The link and some directions for completing the items are below.
Please take some time to review these items as they do provide some insight into the changes the new assessments are bringing.
Sample Test Items using the PARCC online testing software ("TestNav") software are available for teachers and students to look at before the actual field test window starts (March 24th).
- The English Language Assessment has some items which require dragging and dropping pieces of text into response windows, as well has open-ended short answer where students must type in sentences.
- The Math assessment has questions which require equations as answers. One type shows the equation in drop-down boxes. Other items show a larger equation editor box where the answer in written in the box using buttons/mouse clicks.
In the Math section there can be multiple correct responses. For example: Answer: 9 X ? = 72 and Answer: ? X 9 = 72 would both be correct.
Many test questions have multiple parts.
Before submitting the test, students have the option to review all the test questions in that test session.
To launch the sample tests go to: https://practice.parcc.testnav.com , click "Sample Items" and you'll see three tests: grades 3-5, grades 6-8, and High School
Note that TestNav does not run unless you have Internet Explorer version 10 or above. (This means that computers running Windows XP will not run the online testing software.)
