ORO VALLEY, Ariz. (September 4, 2013 )
- The Oro Valley Police Department (OVPD) received information on September 3, 2013 of a possible threatening posting that had been made on the internet about Ironwood Ridge High School. OVPD criminal investigations unit began immediately investigating this threat, along with the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI). Through the investigation it was learned that the author of the posting was a minor child and that there was no malicious intent to the posting and no criminal violations of the law. OVPD would like to thank the public for their proactive involvement in this case.
I also thank all those who proactively addressed this situation through contacting the school and law enforcement. While there is no malicious intent or criminal violations of the law in this situation, Oro Valley Police will have a heightened presence around the IRHS campus as an added precaution.
