10-Year-Old Tradition: Golf, Raffle, Silent Auction
A safe and sober celebration for all our IRHS graduates - that is what Project Grad has has given our kids every May. The largest fundraiser for this incredible night is the annual Oro Valley Cup Golf Tournament; this year it will be held on Friday, February 1st at Tucson El Conquistador with a 12:30 shotgun start. This high-quality event depends on the community's generosity and participation.
If you or someone you know owns a business, please consider participating in or donating to the Oro Valley Cup. The organizing committee is in need of sponsors, players, donations for raffle prizes and silent auction items. Visit their website to download your form. For further information, please contact OV Cup Chair Greg Fitzgerald. You can also like them on Facebook (Oro Valley Cup) and follow them on Twitter (@orovalleycup).

Also on December 8th is their biyearly shopping spree at the Tucson Mall. They will be meeting at 6:45am to help Keeling Elementary students pick out a winter wardrobe. At their December 12th meeting, they will be making holiday cards for the elderly at the Villas at La Canada. They will be visiting the Villas on December 15th to deliver them from 9-11am. Veterans Heritage Project: On November 5th, Veterans Heritage Project held their second Veteran's Day Remembrance Assembly. Over 1200 kids attended the assembly, which focused on honoring our faculty veterans and those who have children serving. Our keynote speaker was Dr. Ken George, who described his service in the U.S. Air Force. This semester, they will be finishing up with veteran interviews and be working on putting together our own collection of stories. In the upcoming semester, they will be hosting an event called "Nets for Vets" in the IRHS auditorium on January 18th, 2013. More information to follow.

 Superintendent Nelson on School Funding
On November 9th, Amphitheater Superintendent Patrick Nelson released this 2012-2013 Budget Communique No. 2. In it he states: "It would certainly be our hope that after several years of dramatic budget cuts, the conclusion of Prop 100 and the failure of Prop 204, the [state] legislature will be very mindful of the tremendous budgetary pressures on Arizona's public schools.... Obviously, we are all very concerned about school finance budgets and what these recent election results will mean for us. Rather than jump to any conclusions we will wait until the legislature convenes in January to get a sense of what the movement on this issue will be, and I will continue to keep you apprised of key budget issues affecting the District as they arise."
