Next Tues

Aug 21

6pm

Auditorium

The IRHS Open House is next week. Get a feel for your child's school day on Tuesday, August 21st, starting at 6:00 p.m. in the Auditorium. (Note that the starting location is different than in the past; this year it begins in the Auditorium.) Meet your child's teachers, mingle with the parents of your child's classmates, and hear a few words from our new principal.

Following a brief, 15 minute introduction from Principal Szolowicz, NPO and Project Graduation, parents will walk through their child's schedule. Visiting each classroom, parents are able to meet each teacher and get a glimpse of their child's school day and classroom expectations.

This flyer will be distributed to students in fourth hour classes later this week. Have your child complete it and bring it with you. You can also retrieve your child's schedule from the parent portal.

The last day for students to change classes this semester is on Friday. This link provides more details. Changes can be made for students with a hole in their schedule, or those who need to change classes because they have already received credit for the class (e.g. in summer school), they need a class for graduation, they don't meet the class prerequisite requirements, or similar reasons.

Short Bio of Another New IRHS Staff Member

In last week's newsletter we highlighted seven new members of the IRHS staff (or previously known IRHS folks who have taken new roles at the school). As promised, in the weeks ahead we will continue these introductions. Today meet ...

Cari Bollinger, 3D Art Teacher
I am so excited to be the new 3-Dimensional Design teacher here at IRHS! I have been out of teaching for the last 6 years so I could be at home to raise my family. My youngest daughter started kindergarten this year, so I thought it would be a great time to get back into teaching my passion, art.  Before my break, I taught art for 9 years at Wilson K-8, it was really tough leaving there. I have lived in Tucson since 1994, graduated from the University of Arizona, and love it here. My husband is a fire captain and we have 3 lovely little girls. I look forward to working with the students this year and seeing what amazing artistic talents I know we have here at IRHS.

Parent Theatre Booster Club, First Meeting -- Aug 16th @ 6PM

clip art The first Parent Theatre Booster Club meeting will take place tomorrow, Thursday August 16th at 6:00pm in the Blackbox Theatre. It is a pot luck. Every adult interested in shaping the theatre program and the performances produced are welcome.

Project Grad Email List

Parents of students across all grade levels (and many
with alumni) make Project Grad happen each year. A great opportunity to get involved with the IRHS community, it is easy to participate whenever your schedule allows, even if it is last minute.

Join their email list to have updates sent to you periodically giving you the times and locations of work parties, key dates, and volunteer needs with the event and all its fundraisers (one even gets you into the pro golf tournament that comes our way each Spring).
