Your Help is Needed - Late Night Mon May 21 (start of Tues May 22)
SIGN-UP here. The following shifts still need to be filled to ensure a fun, safe ALL NIGHT party for our graduating seniors. This party is traditionally put on by parents of underclassmen. Any and all adults welcome to help.
2:15am-3:30am shift: One volunteer for each of the following locations -- volunteer rm, backpack check, sound system guard, dance room, salon receptionist, safari photo op, movie theater, Black Jack dealer, Chinese food stand
12:15am-5:15ish shift: 4 security
3:00am-5:15ish shift: 2 runners/clean-up, 1 volunteer rm, 2 backpack check
Volunteers also needed @ Set-up on Fri May 18 - Sun May 20 and Take-down on Tues May 22.

All Library Books Due. Have your student return all library books. Seniors should check the library list posted on the front office window.
Prom pictures have arrived! Pick up at the front desk. Students must show ID.

Congratulations to Our Nighthawk Athletes !

Ironwood Ridge's Girls Softball Team placed 3rd in the State for Division II. And at the state track meet this past weekend, the following athletes placed in the top three of their events: Melanie Zibrat finished 3rd in the 800 meter race; John Winfield finished 3rd in the 3200 meter race; Collin Coulter finished 2nd in the 400 meter dash; Emily Wilkinson, Molly Latin, Anna Burrows, and Sara Bock were state runners up in the 4x800 meter relay; and Hailey Sawchuk, Vicki Cooper, Kennedy Kurtz, and Melanie Zibrat won the State Championship in the 4x400 meter relay. Well done Nighthawks!

ROCK THE RIDGE This Saturday, May 19 - 8am til' noon

Everyone Come! Great Fun! Rock the Ridge! This Saturday, May 19 from 8am - 12pm, IRHS Student Government is hosting a morning of music (student bands), food and washing of cars. Proceeds will benefit Help Hope Live. The event is a fundraiser inspired by the condition of IRHS English teacher Theresa Chavez's husband, who critically needs a liver transplant. The Chavez's need help securing funds to move forward with necessary medical procedures. In addition to participating in the STUGO event, individuals can make direction donations by visiting www.helphopelive.org and entering "Timothy Chavez" in the "Find a Patient" box on the home page. Words of encouragement can be emailed to the Chavez family at timothy.chavez@gmail.com.

Solar Eclipse Viewing Party, May 20 - 6:30 is Peak Time 
Wilson K-8's Mrs. Burrell and Mrs. Wilkening are throwing a Solar Eclipse Viewing Party at the Wilson Elementary Lower Field Ramada on Sunday, May 20. The Solar Eclipse will begin at 5:25pm, Maximum at 6:30pm and end at sunset, 7:30pm. Special solar viewing glasses will be available for purchase for $2 or you may borrow a pair. For questions or if you are able to donate an Eegees party bucket to add to the refreshments, please email Laurie Burrell or Betsy Wilkening. |
Volunteer to Collect Signatures outside Graduation Ceremony, May 21
 The Amphitheater Superintendent has approved Arizona Education Network's request to be on IRHS's campus just prior to our graduation ceremony to collect petition signatures for an initiative to protect public education funding. The initiative is called The Quality Education and Jobs Initiative. A couple volunteers are needed to collect these signatures. The shift lasts for 1-1.5 hours on May 21st. If interested in helping at IRHS or other high school graduations around Tucson, please email or call Lisa Ferko, 940-5132. |

Firefighter or Fire Service Employee in Your Family???

Inspire the Youth Education Award Contest: Grand Prize: $7,500 and 5 runner up prizes of $500. Contest runs: May1st - June 11. Entrants must be related to an Arizona fire fighter or fire service employee, US residents, 16+ years old, and plan on attending a post-high school education during 2012-13 at an institution such as a community college, university or vocational school. Contestants submit a one minute, creative and compelling video describing how the award will help them achieve their educational goals.

Scholarship Tickets Still Needed!!! Project Graduation only has funds for 23 scholarship tickets (tickets cost $65). Historically, 40-60 are given each year.
