Presentations & Events at IRHS -- Give Us Your Wish List for 2012-13

Dedicated to enriching our school community, last year NPO sponsored presentations such as "The Show" and various speakers, including experts on college financial planning. What would you love to see at IRHS next year? Anti-drug campaign? Anti-bullying campaign? More college info? More entertainment (if so, what types)? Other activities or informational speakers (if so, what topics)?

Please email us  what would be most valuable to your student and/or you!

Help IRHS improve and better meet your child's needs. As noted on the IRHS website, the parent climate survey first available in March has been re-opened due to an exceptionally low response rate. If you have not already completed, please take a couple minutes to do so. It is important and appreciated. Click here for survey in English, and here for Spanish text.

IRHS SMART Team Part of National Biology Convention
Clip Art

In April, the IRHS SMART Team (Students Modeling a Research Topic) traveled to The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, CA, to present their poster and 3-D printed model of a protein and its inhibitor used by researchers at the U of A. Their presentation topic at the National SMART Team meeting was "Cathepsin S Inhibition: Stopping Pain is the Mission."  In conjunction, they presented their poster at the Experimental Biology Convention in San Diego as part of the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology's undergraduate poster presentations. The students did an excellent job presenting and attended various portions of the conference, including a small group teaching session with Dr. Stuart Kornfeld. 3-D Models for the IRHS SMART Team were printed by the Milwaukee School of Engineering's Center for Biomolecular Engineering and can be viewed at IRHS in room A312. This was the most amazing opportunity for our IRHS students to be able to participate in and experience.

After a year of many long Saturdays at school and late after school work sessions these students were really impressive!IRHS SMART Team: Julia Finfrock, Shawn Radler, Bo Shimmin, Kit Currier, and Maddie Lantzsch; Sponsors: Liane Futch and Alysia Ondoua
