FELDENKRAIS AND YOUR VOICE

woman-profile.jpg Often when we teach A.T.M. classes, participants remark on how much more resonant, free and expressive their voices feel and sound at the end of the session. While many of us take classes to improve how we function in the world -- moving with more ease and fluidity and less chronic pain and discomfort -- it is not surprising that our voices also benefit from our self-improvement. We feel, move and sound better in so many ways. As one of our colleagues wrote, "The qualities of our voice reflect the qualities of our being, and the qualities of our being are reflected in our voice."

Our featured article, "Feldenkrais for Voice," is from the website, FeldenkraisWorks, and authored by Victoria Worsley, a London-based practitioner and actress. Victoria portrays the undeniable link between the Feldenkrais Method and improvements to every aspect of yourself which naturally extends to the use of your voice - whether or not you use your voice professionally. The "secret" lies with your breath!

We invite you to register for one of our Fall II series of Awareness Through Movement classes. As you learn to move with more ease and less tension, perhaps you'll notice how your voice feels and sounds freer, with increased resonance and expressiveness however you use your voice in the world.

FACULTY SIGHTINGS
Here's what our faculty are up to in addition to the classes they are offering
at the Center.

Marcy Lindheimer
Marcy will be teaching children with special needs in Chicago, mid-November. In early December, she'll cross the Golden Gate Bridge again to teach the third segment of the Anat Baniel Method Basic Training. The training has students from 27 states and 6 foreign countries.

Scott Fraser
Scott is delighted to be organizing the 2nd annual two-day seminar, Vocal Development through the Feldenkrais Method with Richard Corbeil, Guild Certified Feldenkrais Trainer, Saturday and Sunday, December 7th and 8th. Richard's workshop last December was a great success, and his return to N.Y.C. promises to be just as exciting, rich and trans-formative. Everyone uses their voice to express themselves, and the quality of your voice can impact yourself and others in extraordinary ways, whether you like to sing, use your voice as a tool for work, in social meetings or just around the house. For more information visit: Vocal Development with Richard Corbeil.

Barbara Forbes
Barbara continues to teach Awareness Through Movement at Sarah Lawrence College, and is thrilled that several of her students are now in Professional Feldenkrais Training programs. Her "Embodied Life" studies with Russell Delman continue when he teaches in New York at the Garrison Institute November 21-24.

Madeline Rogers
Having been awarded certification to teach Awareness Through Movement last July, Madeline is continuing her professional training at the Feldenkrais Institute with David Zemach-Bersin.
